We really enjoyed our last camping trip with Nana and Grandad so we decided it was time to do it again. This time Nana & Grandad had a caravan and we purchased ourselves a new tent, which is a Mansion with 3 bedrooms and a vestibule area (I love that word).

We went away for 10 days and it was great fun again. We didn’t however have the great weather that we did with the last trip. We managed to get stuck in a really bad storm, the awning on the caravan blew up and broke the leg (which we managed to fix) and the tent vestibule blew up in the air. The children were fast asleep in the tent at the time, little Miss slept through the whole thing. Luckily the little Man woke up when we had got everything back together again. Phew what a night.

Then another few nights later we got a hail storm, the little man thought it was great, he was out eating the hail stone, oh what fun. We did have some really beautiful days, but the weather is all over the place at the moment you never know what you are going to get.

After the first down pour of rain the children couldn’t help themselves they just had to go and play in the mud, what fun, I remember I loved to make mud pies when I was that age.

Rain stopped and off came the rain coats, but we still played in the mud, and got it all over our clothes now.

Why not just get in the bucket that would be easier

Do a little twirl in your pretty ballerina outfit

It was pouring down with rain so Daddy decided to have a shower under the water coming off the awning on the caravan. Little Man thought that this was hilarious.

At the next camping area we were right on the Lakes edge, this is such a lovely picture of the boys.

Through the trees, on one of the walks that we went on (well done Nana)

A beautiful sunset over the Lake

Rainy Day fun on our second last day, Ten pin bowling, had a great time. Not sure about the little mans style here but it seemed to have worked for him, he came 2nd overall.

Walking above the trees

This weekend we decided to go on a day trip to a sky walk. You walk in the tree tops rather than down on the ground. You are about 22 meters above the ground and at one point you are 45 meters high. WOW!

It was a lot of fun, the little man was a little unsure to start with, as we were quite high up, but he got used to it after a while.

Fun was had by all. I will post some more photos during the week.

This one is so easy to put together, even the children could help you with it. It doesn’t require much energy and it is very yummy to eat at the end of the preparation.

What you will need:

I large Avocado
2 large Tomatoes
1 tub of Cream Cheese
A squeeze of Lemon Juice
Corn Chips - to serve with

What you need to do to put it all together

1. Dice your tomatoes up into small squares

2. In a separate bowl, mash your cream cheese and avocado up so that it is all mixed in together. Add the squeeze of Lemon Juice

TIP - the lemon juice is what helps the avocado to stay green, so please don’t miss this or your dip won’t look as yummy!

3. Just before you are ready to serve, mix in the tomato to the avocado and cream cheese mixture, and give it a stir around.

4. Serve in a bowl with some corn chips around it and enjoy. Your guests, family or whoever is eating it will really enjoy this one.

Sorry I didn’t get a photo of the finished product, but I am sure that you can make it look fantastic without my help.

Toddlers

Little Man is doing really well now, and has managed to make it past the terrible twos/threes stage and is slowly making it over the top to the hill.

Little Miss is a totally different story, I never realised how different boys and girls really are until you have one of each.

Little Miss was a very plasid and gentle baby, she would sleep really well and just goo and gaa like a good little baby, we really thought that she was going to be such a little gem. Well didn’t that change as she has grown up a bit, she is a bit of a monster child. Lucky she is cute!. (of course she has her good moments don’t they all)

I am just going to jot down a couple of my dislikes and frustrations with her at the moment, if anyone out there is struggling with the same thing, talk to me. Have you found anything that works?

Love affair with the toilet

Not such a great thing to have a love affair with, but little miss seems to have one. I thought great she is going to be so easy to toilet train but this is how it goes.

We must get the urge “Wee wee, toilet (said only how she can)”, or “Poo” pointing to the bathroom. Off we go to the toilet and we lift the lid. “No” shutting the lid, walking out of the bathroom. 5 mins later. “Poo” this time we have taken pants and nappy off, so running to the bathroom with nothing on, great what if she really does need to go. I lift her on the toilet, ” No, off” , I say “you have to stay on there longer than that”, “no off”.

So it goes on, sometimes we get the bathroom and she then sees her toothbrush and wants to brush her teeth, forgetting about the whole reason we came to the bathroom for. “brush, brush”.

Sleeping or rather not wanting to

This is both day sleeps and night time sleeps, some days she will just go off with out and issue, but a majority of the time, it ends in tears and arguements.

I really believe that routine works, and it always has with the little man. So we go through all the normal bed time routines. Glass of milk, teeth, book, wee, nappy and bed. Some nights it works a treat, but at the moment it seems not to be working very well at all.

I put them in to bed, kiss and tuck them in, say goodnight, walk out. Then is starts, she throws teddy out of the bed and calls out ” Uh-Oh, Mummy, teddy”, I just go in, no eye contact, don’t say a word, pick up teddy and walk out. Now this can go on for about an hour, every say 5 or so mins sometimes less. She calls out at the top of her voice, not a little quiet voice.

The little man used to always need to go to the toilet, or want a drink. But we got to the stage where you just stand at the door and say sleep time, and he would just go off to sleep. we have tried all of that with the little miss, but she just gets distressed because teddy or blankie are on the floor.

Must explain also that the little man shares a bedroom with little miss, so he is trying to go to sleep himself while all of this is going on. I feel so sorry for him, the other night she was driving me crazy so I put him in my bed, but then he just started calling out, so I just ended up lying on the floor in the middle of the room and they both eventually went off to sleep.

Finally
