Being a Mum is like flying a kite, you never know which way it is going to turn, it can turn really fast and end up crashing. Or it can just float happily and peacefully in one place, or simply sway from side to side

Worker Girl

The two little people were playing in the cubby house.

Worker Girl decided that the house needed a couple of renovations, she should wear her safety glasses.

Didn’t like to tell her that her safety glasses didn’t have any safety glass in them. Oops.

She didn’t seem to overly worried about it anyway, just got on with the work that needed to be done.

Gingerbread Christmas Tree

Great for your Christmas Table

I made this for our Christmas table last year and it looked fantastic, it was pretty good to eat afterwards too. In the hot weather you have to be a bit careful, by the end of lunch it was leaning over a bit, the icing that was holding the stars together slowly softened.

TIP : Can make the stars the day before but need to assemble about an hour before putting on the table.

Ingredients

3 1/3 cups (500g) plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
3 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
150g unsalted butter, softened
175g dark brown sugar
150g honey
1 egg
Icing - you can make your own or

You Capture - Lines

Lines - From Around the House

I have had a great time with this weeks You Capture which was Lines. I have captured lines that I have found outside and inside our house. So here goes, I hope that you enjoy them as much as I did taking them.

The first two are my favourites, I will get these printed as I think they would look great on the wall.

This is a picture of an metal flower that I have hanging on the wall, great lines.

Love Thy Neighbour

Isn’t it great when you get a good neighbour, when you buy a house you just never know what kind of a neighbour you are going to end up with. You always hope that they are going to be nice, but you just never know.

We were fortunate to have a lovely neighbour buy the house next door, and we have chatted and caught up since they moved in. Now that we have sold and are moving on it will be sad to leave the neighbours behind.

She is a lovely lady and has been a gem to me and my family, when she found out we were selling, of course she

Good Fats in our Diet - Why We Need Them

Good Fats

People still get confused with the difference between a good fat and a bad fat, I know that I do. So here is an explanation that I think will clear things up for you a little.

So why good fats? What are these good fats, and why are they so good for us?. Why do we need good fats in our daily diet?.

It is not a secret that eating too much fat can make us overweight. We used to try to avoid fat, but we still gained weight. Now we know that we need some fats in our daily diet to keep ourselves healthy, avoiding all fats can be detrimental

SOLD - Mixed Emotions

SOLD House

Well today was a big day for us, we sold our beautiful house.  We are of course pleased that we have sold the house, but it is with very mixed emotions.

As I said previously we were selling up and moving on, due to the Global financial crisis. We have been sitting here tonight, celebrating would be the wrong word to use. We are happy that we have sold, because we need to, but not so happy as we are selling a house that we like to live in, and don’t really want to sell.  But oh well that is life, I believe that things happen for a reason.

I

Two Children and a Suitcase

Having fun with a suitcase, it is amazing how much fun 2 Children can have with one Suitcase.

The little man piled all the books in the case, followed by Little Miss.

How Much is Too Much?

DVD Player on Stroller & TV watching

While it might might make people look at you and your new child, it may be trendy and new, but do you think that it is right?, Sorry but I think that putting a DVD player on your stroller is just wrong. What do you think?

I was walking around the shopping center the other day and I saw a stroller with a DVD player attached to it, with a Pooh DVD playing. The child in the stroller would have only been about 6-7months old.  Does a 6-7 month old child really need to be watching TV or DVD? I really don’t think so.

Firstly a

You Capture - Your Happy Story

This weeks You Capture is to tell a story with pictures of things that make you happy. Well that wasn’t too difficult when I have 2 little people and 1 big person that makes life very happy, some times frustrating but still happy.

Here is what I captured this week.

I love watching my children play, and share things with each other, even if it is a biscuit that they don’t really want to share.

Sharing

Well maybe not

Well Ok then

I love how they can use their imagination and make something from nothing, playing in the sandpit, making all sorts of things for me, cakes, bread,

First Ice-cream On A Stick

Little Miss’s First Ice-cream On a Stick

Little Miss has eaten Ice-cream from a spoon, but from a stick was a whole new thing. She seemed to really enjoy it, and she managed to eat the whole thing, making a LOT of mess. I did think to my self that she would make a mess so she was only wearing her T-shirt, Bib and nappy.

The First Bite

Ooo it is bit cold on my teeth

Now I am getting used to this

Mmmmm Yum this is good

It is strange when I think of eating an ice-cream, I now wonder what
