Being a Mum is like flying a kite, you never know which way it is going to turn, it can turn really fast and end up crashing. Or it can just float happily and peacefully in one place, or simply sway from side to side

The Little Man is Not Well

I really don’t like it when your children are sick, I feel helpless, and just wish that I could make them all better in a flash. Unfortunately it doesn’t always work that way.  Sometimes a kiss will make it all better but other times it just won’t work.

Well the poor little man had a temperature above 38℃ for a couple of days, he was really not feeling well at all, he had gone off his food, and was extremely lethargic. I took him off to the doctors on the 3rd day, and the doctor said that he had all the signs of the Chicken Pox.

Aghhh, we don’t want the chicken pox, he will go crazy, he has had his immunization shots for chicken pox, how can he get it.  Well apparently they can still get the pox but it is not as nasty as if he didn’t have the shots.

So we now just had to wait for the spots to appear, which the doctor thought would be the next day. The next day came and I waited patiently, I think I must have annoyed the poor little thing, I kept asking him if he was itchy, and lifting his shirt up to see if any spots. He still had a temperature but still no spots by the end of the day.

The next day came along, I called the doctor and he still thought that it was the pox or it could be roseola, which is also known as the baby Measles. Finally the little mans temperature went back to normal and a rash appeared all over his tummy and back, called the doctor again and it wasn’t the chicken pox after all, it was Roseola, which is no where near as bad, thank goodness. The rash will apparently go away tomorrow and he will be all better. YAY!!

It is so bad though you can just watch them and they really don’t know what to do with themselves. They just want you to cuddle them or just lie on the couch and no one look at them or touch them.  Their faces are just sad, not the normal happy lively little things that they are day to day. It is like someone has taken your little person away and replaced them with some other child. It is not very nice for everyone.

The hardest part I think is when they don’t want to eat, the doctor told me that this is ok, they will eat when they are hungry, but just make sure that they get lots of fluids. I managed to get the Little Man to drink plenty of water and a bit of Milk also, so that was better than no food at all. The second or third day I managed to get him to eat a bit of yoghurt, which I thought would help, a bit of protein.

Then there is the waking up every half an hour during the night, my husband said that last night he got up 3 times to him, but I didn’t hear a thing. The night before I was up 6 times and last night I got up 3 times before my husband did. Sleep deprivation is a wonderful thing when you have children. You didn’t realise that it existed before then, lots of great nights sleep, with a sleep in in the morning. But not now, up and down during the night, 6.30am wake ups. You know that you are alive!

They are both worth every sleepless night.

Chicken pox is one hell of a nasty disease, it ruined my flawless skin a couple of years ago.~-~
